Travel brings out the best or the worst in people. I've seen both, but I admit to loving travel and I take the good with the bad. However, it's mostly good.
There's something about packing your bags and being satisfied that you've done it well, then there are those first few minutes as the plane takes off. The stress of preparation fades away and you sink into the seat and relax.
Of course at the end of 3 months you're sick of the bags and happy to get off the plane.
Small things excite me when traveling. For instance when I have somewhere to wash my clothes instead of the shower. When I have a snack in my room if I get hungry, fast internet and when I have a comfy bed to sink into at the end of a busy day.
I've been traveling seriously for the past 12 years. I've almost got the luggage right. Hard sided cases with no zips and combination locks and a cover for the cases to stop damage.
The next essential is a mini projector for my presentations.
I'm auditioning new hand luggage, my 3 year old green hand luggage succumbed to over use on the last trip... The handle wobble precariously and it was only a matter of time before it gave out.
I loved that bag, it was the only hard sided one I'd seen that had a separate opening for the lap top. Finally I found another one, but at $600 for hand luggage I nearly choked... I managed to get a real good discount and it has a life time guarantee.
This time tomorrow I will be eating dinner in Singapore and I'll lap up the warmth of the atmosphere and the ambience of Asia. I haven't been to Singapore for a few years now, so if the leg allows it I will have a whole day of walking and photographing on Wednesday before the trip across the pond to London.
What does a quilter pack to continue her creative exercises as she travels?
This time it's the big sketch book, colored pencils for practicing drawing eyes and bright pens and fabrics to draw a block each day.... Cough !!!
I've now added EQ7 to my mac. The plan is to do the blocks for a Mexican tile quilt as I travel and I have two other genres I'm keeping Mum about.
But tomorrow, it's only and 8 hour fight from Melbourne to Singapore so I just might watch a movie and sleep.
