Dawn, By far, the best time of the day.
I got used to 'Dawns' many years ago.
There was a family asleep in the house, the day lay in front of us and it was a wonderful part of the day to have time to myself.
As soon as the troops arose... it was all go.
Drama OK, so I'm a control freak. I have to have everything written down and I have a form for the Bayeux, Date, time worked, needles changed, bobbins used.... etc, etc. Strange indeed, but I like to keep track of my progress.
Somehow, I lost the file on one of my desk tops. I couldn't believe it... Drama. But I finally realized I had some of it on the other Desk top and I was able to recover it and add the missing pieces.!!!! eek.
I want these statistics to be absolutely accurate... so I was disappointed...These figures are not for anyone else but me, but they are wonderful to look back on. Fortunately I was able to fix it with my back up.
In 1996 I made the first of my large Quilts. I called it "reflections..." It's rough, badly quilted and it just doesn't fit the bill. I think the valuation on the quilt was around $3000. The valuers were excited to that a complete diary accompanied the quilt and gave it a higher price.
It's fascinating to look back on. So much has happened in that 16 years.
Opening the book is like being transported back to that time. "Oh my goodness, I forgot that happened"
So my documentation is an important part of making a quilt.
I have a studio full of files. Every quilt I made has a file. A very detailed file.
I'm loathe to get rid of them, I don't have the time to put them on the computer and now every thing is digital.... it's a bit a problem. It's history, It's my thinking process and growth.
OK, my Delight....
Because I'm going to be home for some time... I decided to put a satellite on my shed so I can get satellite TV.... two workmen came, 15 minutes this morning and it was done. Now I don't have to watch American politics and argue with the TV in the wee hours.
I'm teaching Miss Tilly to do Tom Boy and my new light box is working a treat.
I rolled out the quilt today and I almost did cartwheels... seeing it as one piece is really exciting.
This is an assembled viking ship waiting to go on the quilt.
