Musings
12 days into the project and starting work at 4.00 am is working well. I had one slip up on Monday, the temperature was 40 deg and I slept more than normal. I put it down to being a domestic goddess for a few days... Washing, Ironing and cleaning... all of which are very boring.
I had to buy an alarm clock for the first time in my life. Some mornings I lay awake waiting for it to go off, other mornings I feel like hitting it.
However, I've learned to go to bed a bit earlier (10.00 pm instead of 12 pm) which really annoys me.... but it's the way I'm going to get everything done.
By the time I turn off the alarm and make a drink, the dogs, Ralf and Lionel are waiting at the door, their excitement at my presence never wanes.
When I wake up, I anticipate the next stage of the project and today I have worked well past the allotted time... another 6 hours in fact because, I get so excited at the outcome, each part of the quilt is different and it's a challenge to see if I can do justice to the original.
The photo above are faces and hands, as I assemble each person, they take on their own personality.I just love the hands, they are so expressive... but I don't say that when I have to satin stitch around them.
In completing the other panels and quilt. I've been down this road before.
But this time it's different, the feeling of great pleasure is that I can pace myself better and I know that working on this project is like being in a bubble and becomes my whole environment.
I'm living the experience,
I'm creating the Bayeux Tapestry MY WAY.
Last time, I didn't share the way I felt or indeed even the images...
But it's lonely on that road so I've approached this one differently.
