There’s something special happening in quilting.
I don’t mean to sound like an evangelist, I don’t need to convert people to the art of quilting, I just love being involved with the nice people I meet and I’m excited at what is happening in the quilting world right now.
When I’m home, I don’t set foot in a quilt shop...
I have enough fabric to last three life times...I feel sad that I don't get the rush of excitement that I had when I first started quilting. The spark has gone.
However, on the road, I get to visit quite a few shops.I’ve visited 6 or 7 on this trip. They are nice, but I’ve seen it all before, country, brown, sand, green. Some fabric designers have been doing the same thing for 20 years... it all gets a bit Ho Hum.
Kaffe Fassett shocked and delighted us all with his big vibrant prints and simplistic patterns and he was the forerunner to the designs of today.
They are just wonderful.
You don’t have to make a quilt with this fabulous fabric.
Whip up a bag, a throw rug, childrens clothes, table cloths etc...
Basic home sewing takes on a new meaning when you use them.I visited the Country Fabrics and Quilting shop yesterday, they are celebrating their 40th birthday.
“You must visit upstairs” they said..... and wow, what a joy. It took me back to the excitement I experienced when I first visited quilt shops some 20 years ago.
I want to work with this fabric.... I love it....
You can't help but feel good looking at it.
I vow to create some quilts for the new bambinos when I know just who they are.
